Wondering where people were moving in
2014? I’ve got the info for you!
The Northeast lost residents for the
third consecutive year, while some other states were surprises as they gained
more residents.
The United Van Lines 38thAnnual National Movers Study tracked customers migration patterns
during the course of the past year. Oregon
was the top moving destination of 2014, with 66 percent of all moves being
inbound. South Carolina was Number 2 (61
percent inbound), followed very closely by North Carolina.
This may reflect longer-terms trends
of folks moving to the southern and western states where housing costs are
relatively lower, climates are more temperate, and job growth has been at or
above the national average.
In addition to these things, what
brings so many of my clients to North Carolina is the outdoor recreation, great schools and interest in education, arts and entertainment activities, and green space.

leaving for retirement with more than one in four respondents indicating
retirement is the reason for relocation.
The Mountain West had the highest number of retirees moving to the region
with nearly one in three individuals surveyed saying they relocated there to
retire.
