More than 107,000 students will head back to school on Monday in Wake County for the start of traditional-calendar schools. With Monday's start, the district will have 170 schools in operation, including the new Rolesville High School, which will start with students in grades 9 and 10.

This weekend only - tax free shopping!

The annual tax-free holiday that applies to certain items begins on Friday morning, August 2 and concludes on Sunday, August 4, 2013. 

Here’s an overview of what’s included (or exempt from tax):

·       Clothing, footwear, and school supplies of $100 or less per item

·       School instructional materials of $300 or less per item

·       Sports and recreation equipment of $50 or less per item

·       Computers of $3,500 or less per item;

·       Computer supplies of $250 or less per item

Clothing accessories, jewelry, cosmetics, protective equipment, wallets, furniture, items used in a trade or business, and rentals are not covered by the exemption and will be subject to the applicable tax.
